About

The mission of the Kentucky Out-of-School Alliance (KYOSA) is to support the continued growth, development, and accessibility of quality out-of-school programs to promote the success of children and youth.

Our vision is that all children and youth in Kentucky will have access to high-quality out-of-school time programs that prepare them for success in school, work, and life.

Our primary goals are to:

  • Create a sustainable structure of statewide, regional, and local partnerships, particularly school-community partnerships, focused on supporting statewide policy development.
  • Support the development and growth of statewide policies that will secure the resources that are needed to sustain new and existing afterschool programs.
  • Support statewide systems to ensure programs are of high quality.

Our work is split into three main areas:

Training & Professional Development

We are building a statewide system to enhance out-of-school time programs. We do this by identifying program needs and providing trainings, resources, and tools to meet those needs, all at no or low cost to providers. Find out about current trainings.

Funding & Sustainability

To further support the development of quality out-of-school time programs, we hold an annual mini-grant competition. The Kentucky Out-of-School Alliance (KYOSA) will fund mini-grants to help support community coalitions in their efforts around literacy and health and wellness initiatives in out-of-school time (OST) settings.

Advocacy

We advocate for local, state, and federal funds needed to sustain new and existing out-of-school time programs. Learn more about how you can help us rally support for programs in your community today! To find out-of-school time programs in your area, locate resources, and examine current gaps in access, access our new interactive data and mapping tool – the KYOSA Data Explorer – by clicking here.
