The mission of the Kentucky Out-of-School Alliance (KYOSA) is to support the continued growth, development, and accessibility of quality out-of-school programs to promote the success of children and youth.
Our vision is that all children and youth in Kentucky will have access to high-quality out-of-school time programs that prepare them for success in school, work, and life.
We approach our work with a commitment to: collaboration, transparency, fairness and belonging.
We achieve our mission by:
- Forging statewide, regional, and local cross-sector collaborations that ensure out-of-school time programs are high-quality and sustainable.
- Advancing statewide policy that will secure the resources needed to sustain new and existing out-of-school time programs.
- Building the capacity of the out-of-school time workforce to lead and deliver high-quality programs and services.
- Providing a centralized hub of data and resources that equip the field to influence systems change, expand partnerships, strengthen the workforce, and improve programs.
Our work is split into three main areas:
Training & Professional Development
We are building a statewide system to enhance out-of-school time programs. We do this by identifying program needs and providing trainings, resources, and tools to meet those needs, all at no or low cost to providers. Find out about current trainings.
Data & Research
To further support the development of quality out-of-school time programs, we work year round to understand our current conditions and persistent barriers to achieving equitable access to out-of-school time programs for youth across our Commonwealth. To find out-of-school time programs in your area, locate resources, and examine current gaps in access, access our interactive data and mapping tool – the KYOSA Data Explorer.
Policy &Advocacy
We advocate for local, state, and federal funds needed to sustain new and existing out-of-school time programs. Learn more about how you can help us rally support for programs in your community today!
