Congratulations to Livin’ Well Larue, Lighten Up Calloway, and Newport Intermediate School — our first ever Community Coalition mini-grant recipients!
Livin’ Well Larue’s primary goal is to increase health literacy among rural low-income families. Their project will target households with children birth to age 8 who are unable to participate in summer education programming.
Lighten Up Calloway will focus on summer literacy and wellness activities for children by introducing participants to different areas of wellness, increasing access to literacy rich environments, expanding services and outreach via community partnerships, and family engagement.
Newport Intermediate plans to expand access to afterschool programming in the areas of health and literacy through a series on ongoing family-focused activities designed to increase engagement, physical activity, and child literacy.
We are excited to be a partner in these initiatives and look forward to working with these coalitions and their community partners this year!
