Partner Learning Series Session 2: Best Practices for a Successful Transition to Kindergarten
December 1st | 1:00e/12:00c
Featured Presenter: Ken Smythe-Leistico, PhD
We encourage everyone to join us for this webinar on Friday, December 1st, 1pm EST. During this hour-long session, participants will learn about best practices and replicable strategies for supporting both children and families during the transition to school.
Our session presenter, Ken Smythe-Leistico, is a Professor and Field Coordinator for the Social Work Department at Seton Hill University. Ken also leads Rise Educational Consulting; RISE merges evidence-based approaches with practical service delivery to create innovative practices that get results. RISE engages parents, schools, and community providers to maximize student success. Smythe-Leistico was the former Assistant Director of the University of Pittsburgh Office of Child Development (OCD). He researched, developed, and implemented programs that target children and families transitioning into kindergarten while reducing chronic absence. His blend of research to practice was demonstrated through the development of a trademarked brand for kindergarten and a website with practical tools and resources for transition (www.readyfreddy.org). Ken was featured as an Emerging Leader in the Harvard Family Involvement Network of Educators Newsletter, honored by Pittsburgh Magazine as one of the regions “40 under 40”, and is an author of an article in the American Journal of Community Psychology.
We are beyond thrilled to have Ken presenting for our Partner Learning Series this year and hope you’ll join us for an informative session!
