We are excited to announce our 2024-2025 cohort of Kentucky Afterschool Ambassadors!
Founded by the Kentucky Out-of-School Alliance (KYOSA) in 2022, the Kentucky Afterschool Ambassador program’s mission is to empower up-and-coming leaders in the afterschool field to confidently and effectively advocate for afterschool for all Kentucky youth.
Over the next ten months, the Ambassadors will not only work to benefit Kentucky’s youth, but they’ll also network with other advocates, sharpen their leadership and public speaking skills, and become more engaged in the public policy process.
The 2024-2025 Kentucky Afterschool Ambassadors are:
- Elinor Blankenship – Regional Operations Director – Youth Development, YMCA of Central Kentucky
- Jamee Carper – Childcare Director, Telford Community Center YMCA
- Rhonda Colbert – Program Director, YMCA of Greater Louisville
- Debra Glenn – Director, Crawford Middle School 21st CCLC
- Courtney Jeffries – Executive Director, Graves County ASAP
- Melissa Nelson – Manager of Education, Metro United Way
- April Peacock – Program Manager, The Housing Authority of Covington
- Shawna Wood – COO & Interim Director, The Foundry
Ambassadors are chosen each summer through a competitive application process and receive a $1,000 stipend for their commitment to the program. For more information about the Kentucky Afterschool Ambassador Program and this year’s cohort, visit https://kyoutofschoolalliance.org/ambassador-program.
