Grants 101 & 201 Workshop: Elizabethtown

February 15 - February 16

KNN and Grant Ready Kentucky are proud to present this two-day grant workshop in Elizabethtown on February 15 and 16. The workshop will take place in the Central Kentucky Community Foundation’s Community Hall.

This Grants 101 & 201 Workshop series, led by grant professional Melissa Vermillion, GPC, MBA, will teach participants how to research and apply for grant funding for nonprofits. Day One provides an introduction to the grant process, and Day Two takes a deeper dive into a winning federal grant application.

Event details:

  • Participants are encouraged to attend both days but may register for either day
  • Coffee, light refreshments, and lunch will be provided on both days
  • Participants should plan to bring a laptop to follow along with course materials
  • Dates: Thursday, February 15 and Friday, February 1
  • Times: 9am – 4pm ET each day, with registration opening at 8:30 am each day

In Grants 101 – Introduction to Grant Writing (Day 1 – February 15), participants will learn:

  • The basics of writing styles
  • Proposal planning
  • Proposal writing format
  • Basic grant components
  • How to identify the problem
  • Providing outcomes, methods, and objectives
  • Budgets
  • Required attachments

In Grants 201 – Federal Grants Workshop (Day 2 – February 16), participants will learn:

  • How to find grant opportunities
  • How to review a grant solicitation
  • How to find and use data for the needs section
  • How to review examples of sections in a funded grant application
  • What makes a grant application competitive
