The American Rescue Plan brings over $521 million in additional funding for afterschool and summer learning across Kentucky. This funding presents a tremendous opportunity to support students’ recovery and expand access to afterschool and summer learning programs for underserved communities across the Commonwealth
To help support districts, the Kentucky Out-of-School Alliance (KYOSA) has created a brief survey (see below) aimed at helping us learn about the types of programs and interventions you’ll be offering during non-school hours to help kids recover and re-engage. We will use your responses to provide better support to school districts who wish to start or expand comprehensive afterschool and summer learning programs.
The deadline for completion is Friday, November 4, 2022.
Comprehensive afterschool programming: Broad-based programming offered by schools or community-based organizations (CBOs) (sometimes in partnership with one another) during the hours immediately following the school day (i.e. after 3 p.m.). Programming can include opportunities to accelerate learning, along with a broad array of enrichment activities ranging from physical fitness and health education; arts programs; science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) activities; and career and technical education (CTE) programs; to youth development. For older students, these opportunities can include a work-based learning or community service component.
Summer learning/enrichment programming: Broad-based programming offered by schools or community-based organizations (CBOs) (sometimes in partnership with one another) over summer break.
Take the survey!
